The use of GPS-RO at ECMWF

This talk will review the current assimilation of GPS-RO data in the ECMWF NWP system. We will present recent "no GPS-RO" impact experiments, and also highlight the impact of the three Metop GRAS instruments. The introduction of improved vertical interpolation of refractivity in the two-dimensional bending angle observation operator will be discussed, and sensitivity experiments quantifying the impact of imposed bending angle biases in the stratosphere will be presented.
