GPS radio occultation (RO) data from several satellite missions are successfully processed at GFZ Potsdam since more than one decade: CHAMP (2001-2008), GRACE (2006-2017), TerraSAR-X (since 2008), and Tandem-X (since 2010). First occultations from the GRACE Follow-on (GRACE-FO) mission started in 2018 are available.
The presentation includes an overview of recent activities from RO data processing and applications at GFZ. The general status of the near real time processing of TerraSAR-X and Tandem-X, and the post-processing activities of the GFZ RO database since 2001 will be presented. Moreover the status and first results from the new GRACE-FO mission are shown. For the retrieval software GFZ is going to partly change to ROPP software components. Some details will be highlighted.
With respect to applications an updated trend study to tropopause height and temperature based on the UCAR data base with occultations from CHAMP, GRACE, COSMIC, and Metop for the time period 2002 and 2018 will be briefly discussed.
Finally, some developments and future plans with respect to new satellite experiments is given.
