Talk

Global Navigation Satellite Systems Radio Occultation (GNSS-RO) measurements have been assimilated into NCEP operations for more than 10 years. The Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) has been working with NCEP to advance GNSS-RO assimilation since the COSMIC-1 mission was launched. This talk will focus on the latest efforts and progress at JCSDA and NCEP on improving current NCEP’s data assimilation capability for new GNSS-RO missions (e.g., METOP-C, COSMIC-2), as well as developing advanced data assimilation operators in the framework of the Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI). Recent results and implementation plans for operations will be presented.
