Over the last years the Global Climate Observing System Reference Upper-Air Network (GRUAN) has grown and now providing another data product, with several further data products under development.
GRUAN data products are of reference quality, i.e. all systematic biases having been accounted for and traceable measurement uncertainties are provided on each datum.
GRUAN sites are particularly valuable for meeting the needs of long-term climate trend detection, numerical weather prediction, satellite calibration and validation, and process studies.
Thus GRUAN and RO data products share some characteristics, namely their homogeneity, long-term stability and high accuracy that allow them to be used as reference for other observation systems.
This presentation will provide a status update of GRUAN and present the results of a comparison between a GRUAN data product for a radiosonde type with the ROM SAF Climate Data Record for GRAS.
