Due to the still-short time period covered by Radio Occultation (RO) measurements compared to climatological standards, deriving trends from RO data requires particular care. Separating the large natural sources of variability such as ENSO in the troposphere, the QBO in the tropical stratosphere, SSWs in polar regions, or volcanoes in the tropics from linear changes in the atmospheric parameters is challenging. Also break points in the RO time series, e.g. from changing sampling density or changes in the employed background fields, need to be considered carefully. Here we present latest results applying multiple linear regression on RO monthly means to derive vertically and latitudinally resolved climatological trends of temperature and some derived parameters, and discuss the robustness of
these results.
