Invited talk

With the launch of Metop-C in late 2018, EUMETSAT now operates three GRAS instruments in orbit, providing high-quality RO data from its Metop constellation to the global user community. We provide an overview of the current status of Metop/GRAS and show results of the validation activities of the GRAS data from Metop-C, demonstrating the high consistency between the RO products from all three instruments.

We will further discuss recent and upcoming changes in the operational RO data processing at EUMETSAT, and then turn to future RO missions EUMETSAT will be involved in: The EUMETSAT Polar System - Second Generation (EPS-SG) as well as Jason-CS/Sentinel-6. For EPS-SG, we briefly discuss differences in mission concept and instrument characteristics compared to its GRAS heritage.

Finally, we will discuss aspects of the exploitation of future commercial RO data.
