ROM SAF Product Archive
The ROM SAF Product Archive contains geophysical variables generated from radio occultation (RO) measurements from many different missions. The current list of products and missions is provided in the Product Status table, and the different types of products and applications are described below:
- Near Real Time (NRT) products: refractivity, dry temperature, and 1D-Var (temperature, humidity, pressure, surface pressure) products. These products are for time-critical applications.
- Offline and Non Time Critical (NTC) products: bending angle, refractivity, dry temperature, 1D-Var (temperature, humidity, pressure, surface pressure), tropopause height, and gridded monthly mean products. These products are for non time-critical applications.
- Climate Data Records (CDRs): bending angle, refractivity, dry temperature, 1D-Var (temperature, humidity, pressure, surface pressure), tropopause height, and gridded monthly mean products, altogether covering the time period from September 2001 to December 2016. These products have a high degree of internal consistency, which is important for, e.g., climate science and climate monitoring.
- Interim Climate Data Records (ICDRs): bending angle, refractivity, dry temperature, 1D-Var (temperature, humidity, pressure, surface pressure), tropopause height, and gridded monthly mean products, covering the time period from January 2017 onward. The ICDR extends a corresponding CDR in time.
- Demonstration data: prototypes, experimental data sets, etc., based on RO data from different missions.
In addition ROM SAF has conducted activities related to the generation of two atmospheric reanalyses:
- ECMWF has produced two atmospheric reanalyses based only on data types that are not bias-corrected, especially RO. This task was carried out as a response to a recommendation by the IROWG climate subgroup. The full description and information about access to the reanalyses is available at: The EUMETSAT ROM SAF reanalyses
