NRT Notification Detail
| Outage of GRAS level 1b data
|
DATE: 2010-11-22 11:28
TYPE: NRT-GTS
|
| Description
|
| Dear GRAS SAF GTS User

Issued 2010-11-22 11:26 UTC

Due to an outage of upstream GRAS level 1 b data no GRAS SAF level 2
products are currently disseminated. The dissemination stopped at
instrument sensing time 2010-11-22 07:21:34 UTC. Furthermore GRAS
level 1 b data has been degraded since 2010-11-20 08:57 UTC and as a
consequence the GRAS SAF level 2 refractivity product has also been
degraded. Please see detailed message from EUMETSAT below.

Note that since the below message, the error has possibly been located
to be connected with the upstream GPS clock estimations from GSN. In
that case the GRAS level 1b and GRAS SAF products should be back to
nominal quality later today.

Kind regards
The GRAS SAF Team

Subject: GRAS data degradation ongoing since 20 Nov 2010 08:57 UTC
From: Christian Marquardt

Dear all,

unfortunately, I have to report on an ongoing significant degradation
of GRAS level 1 data quality starting on 20. Nov 2010 (that's
Saturday) 08:57 UTC measurement time. The problem is still ongoing.

While the first eight hours of data (until about 17:00 UTC on
20/11/2010) were correctly flagged as degraded, data after that point
in time continued to be of poor quality, but did not indicate this
usuing the corresponding data quality flags. In order to not continue
to deliver bad data to you, we have taken the decision to stop the
dissemination of GARS level 1 data for the time being.

We are currently investigating the cause for the issue and will keep
you informed. We will also resume with the data dissemination as soon
as the data quality is nominal again.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes!

With kind regards,

Christian.
