| Change of operational status of ROM SAF Sentinel-6 NTC products |

| Dear ROM SAF Data User Issued: 2022-12-07 12:56 UTC Since December 2021, the ROM SAF has produced Sentinel-6 radio occultation products for non time critical (NTC) applications. These products (refractivity, dry temperature, temperature, humidity, pressure profiles and gridded data) are based on Sentinel-6 NTC bending angle data from EUMETSAT Secretariat as input, derived from measurements from the NASA RO instrument flying onboard Sentinel-6. The original validation of the ROM SAF products was based on a limited data set and the products were declared with the following status: - Operational products: refractivity (GRM-117), dry temperature (GRM-122), pressure (GRM-120), surface pressure (GRM-121), gridded monthly means of all geophysical variables (GRM-123 to GRM-129); - Pre-operational products: temperature (GRM-118), humidity (GRM-119), gridded tropopause height (GRM-195). Based on validation of a longer time series the status of GRM-118 and GRM-195 is now formally declared “operational” (since 23 November 2022) whereas GRM-119 continues to have pre-operational status. The Sentinel-6 products are formatted as netCDF files, with a subset of the products formatted as BUFR. In addition, the files include a copy of the EUMETSAT Secretariat NTC bending angle at vertical levels corresponding to those of the refractivity products. The Sentinel-6 products cover the time period from 14 November 2021 up to the present, and new data is released regularly once a day about two weeks after sensing time.
