Dear all,

GRAS data is back (since 10:03 UTC) for a while now and has reached nominal quality again around 14:00 UTC.; the bending angles have been flagged accordingly for the same period.

If you care, http://twitpic.com/43myen shows the time series of mean upper level (60-80km) bending angles over the last two days, with the data gap and following period of degraded data visible by the large scatter of mean bending angle values.

You will notice that the distributions for the bending angles of rising (red) and setting (blue) occultations were slightly different, suggesting different high altitude biases for rising and setting occultations. This had no impact on data quality below 40 km altitude, but we are looking into the reasons for this anyway. While we do know that it is related to a systematic along-track error in our operational POD, we are not entirely sure what caused this deviation in the first place. Giv me a shout if you are interested in the details...

Kind regards, and once more our sincere apologies for the interruption of our service,

 Christian.
