| Upgrade of Sentinel-6 NTC Level 2 ROM SAF processing (GPAC 3.6.1) |

| Dear ROM SAF DATA User Issued : 2024-08-28 06:08 UTC On 3 September, the ROM SAF will make an update to the Sentinel-6 Non Time Critical (NTC) Level 2 products. The processing system will be upgraded from GPAC 3.1.2 to GPAC 3.6.1. The upgrade will bring the Sentinel-6 NTC processing at the ROM SAF up-to-date with that of other missions. The following changes should be noted: - The BUFR files will be encoded using Master Table Version 39, and thus Master Table Version 39 (or higher) is required to decode the BUFR data - The time significance in the BUFR files (descriptor 0 08 021) will be set to 25, meaning ’nominal reporting time’, and consequently the time increment (descriptor 0 04 016) will always be zero - Currently, by mistake, the thinned ionospheric L2 bending angle in the BUFR files is the L2-extrapolated one provided to the ROM SAF by the EUMETSAT Secretariat. After the upgrade it will be the ‘raw’ L2 bending angle, also provided to the ROM SAF by the EUMETSAT Secretariat. There will be no change to the ionospheric corrected bending angle. We will send out another announcement once the upgrade has been made.
