Description
Dear GRAS SAF GTS user Issued: 2011-06-10 07:50 UTC Please see detailed message from EUMETSAT concerning yesterdays Metop maneouvre below. Kind regards The GRAS SAF Team Forwarded Message: Subject: RE: GRAS: maneouvre on 09 Jun 2011 & anticipated geomagmnetic storm From: Christian Marquardt Date: 2011-06-09 19:11 UTC Dear all, I just wanted to provide you with an update on today's manoeuvre which went according to plan. The GRAS POD was reset shortly after (for sensing times around 13:42 UTC) and has been converging since then as expected. According to our monitoring, the data quality should be back to nominal by now (for sensing times at 17:00 and later), although the bending angle data will continue to be flagged as degraded until shortly before 18:00 UTC (just to be on the safe side...) With respect to the geomagnetic storm: As you might have heard from the news, the ejected material from the sun passed Earth in a safe distance, without further impact or geomagnetic storms. There was thus no impact on GRAS data quality, and we do not expect any degradation related to this particular event in the future. With kind regards, Christian. -- Dr. Christian Marquardt, Polar System Product Expert EUMETSAT, Am Kavalleriesand 31, D-64295 Darmstadt, Germany
