Dear GRAS SAF GTS user Issued 2011-09-27 07:55 UTC Due to a scheduled Metop-A out-of-plane manoeuvre, 2011-09-18, there will be an outage and a degradation of upstream GRAS level 1 b data. No GRAS SAF products will be disseminated during the GRAS level 1 b outage, and during the period with degraded GRAS level 1 b data GRAS SAF products will be flagged accordingly. Please see detailed message from EUMETSAT below: Kind Regards The GRAS SAF Team Forwarded Message: Subject: Metop out-of-plane Manoeuvre on Wednesday, 28th September 2011 From: Christian Marquardt Date: 2011-09-26 20:43 UTC Dear all, as you might have heard from other EUMETSAT communications, Metop-A will undergo a (planned) out-of-plane manoeuvre on Wednesday, with two burns taking place shortly after noon as well as around the next midnight (both times in UTC). GRAS will continue to be operated in measurement mode, but the processing will suffer from resets in the operational Precise Orbit Determination (POD) shortly after each burn, and require about 4 hours after each burn (and the associated rotation of the satellite). As we cannot guarantee that data immediately after the burns is correctly flagged as being bad, we have decided that we will stop the dissemination of GRAS level 1b (bending angle) data *between* the two burns of the manoeuvre. Dissemination will be reactivated after the second burn, and as soon as a POD reset has been confirmed; GRAS level 1b data may therefore be flagged as containing bad bending angle data for up to 4 hours after the dissemination has restarted. As the GRAS SAF's level 2 products are based on the level 1b data flow, the same data outage will also affect GRAS level 2 data from the GRAS SAF.
