Dear GRAS SAF GTS user Issued : 2011-10-25 07:55 UTC The software on the GRAS onboard receiver will be updated tomorrow, 2011-10-26. Due to the update, upstream level 1b GRAS data will be unavailable/degraded for up to 10 hours. GRAS SAF products will not be disseminated in that period. Kind regards The GRAS SAF Team Forwarded message: Subject: GRAS Data Outage on Wednesday / 26 Oct. 2011 From: Christian Marquardt Date: 2011-10-24 14:47 UTC Dear all, on Wednesday, 26 October 2011, we plan to update the GRAS receiver's onboard software. The new version of the software modifies parameters of the C/A code and carrier lock detectors as well as the P(Y) code acquisition threshold. The patch aims at mitigating the well known data gap issues that GRAS has both in its raw sampling data at low altitudes as well as in the C/A closed loop data in rising occultations. Because the software upload will take place over several ground station contacts, we expect that the GRAS instrument will be switched off for up to 6 hours; the usual Precise Orbit Determination recovery period will add another 4 hours until GRAS level 1 data will become available in nominal quality. As a consequence, there will be no GRAS level 1 data available for about 10 hours. The upload of the new software version is planned to commence around 08:00 UTC on Wednesday, 26 Oct 2011, and according to the above, we expect operational GRAS data in nominal quality to be available again in the early evening (around 18:00 UTC). I will let you know about the progress during Wednesday, and also about the impact of the software change on both operational and experimental data products in the days following the software update.
