Outage of Metop-B GRAS level 1b data

Issued 2013-10-29 15:45 UTC

Due to missing upstream Metop-B GRAS level 1 b data the demonstrational ROM SAF GRM-40 product was not disseminated between 06:31 and 12:51 UTC today, 29 Oct 2013. From 12:51 UTC to approx.15:00 UTC the upstream product was degraded, the ROM SAF product was flagged accordingly.

Dear all,

unfortunately I have to report that due to an issue with the solid state data recorder, no science data has been available between 06:31 and 12:51 UTC today, 29 Oct 2013.

For GRAS, the operational precise orbit determination system went through a reset shortly after GRAS level0 data became available again, hence producing degraded level 1b (bending angle) data. The data is flagged accordingly; level 2 (refractivity) data produced downstream by the ROM SAF will also be affected.

We expect that GRAS data will be back to nominal quality around 15:00 UTC sensing time.
