Description
Dear ROM SAF GTS User

Issued 2014-04-20 13:25 UTC

Due to a Metop-B GRAS instrument clock anomaly the Metop-B bending angle
products were degraded during part of the period April 17-19. As a result,
the level 2a refractivity products were not produced and disseminated.

For more details see the message from Christian Marquardt below.

Level 2a Metop-A/GRAS refractivity products were not affected.

With kind regards
The ROM SAF Team

Emne: Degraded GRAS/Metop-B data between 17 Apr 2014 09:15 UTC and 19 Apr 2014, 18:21 UTC

Dear all,

my apologies for some bad news:

Unfortunately, the data processing for the GRAS instrument onboard Metop-B suffered from severely degraded bending angle data starting Thursday, 17 April 2014, 09:15 UTC. Nominal quality of the GRAS/Metop-B level 1b data products was restored only today, 19 April 2014, after 18:21 UTC. During this period, the data was *not* flagged accordingly.

Metop/A data was not affected.

The anomaly is due to a clock jump in the GRAS receiver onboard Metop-B. This is a known issue of the GRAS receivers which occurs only rarely, and can be fixed quickly in the processing. This time, due to the Easter holidays, however, the problem was not realized until this afternoon. I'm especially grateful to Lauritsen from the ROM SAF at DMI who made us aware of the problem. Thank you, Kent!

With my sincere apologies once more,

Christian.
