Description
Dear GRAS SAF GTS user Issued 2010-08-05 7:40 UTC Upstream GRAS level 1 b data has been slightly degraded since yesterday around 10:00 UTC. Please see detailed message from Eumetsat below. Kind regards The GRAS SAF Team Subject: GRAS product quality degradation due to geomagnetic storm Date: Wed, 4 Aug 2010 18:18:11 +0200 From: Christian Marquardt <Christian.Marquardt@eumetsat.int> Dear all, since earlier today, 04 August 2010 around 10:00 UTC, we experience slightly degraded level 1 data quality due to an impact of geomagnetic storms on our operational orbit estimation. We currently see systematic biases in the order of 1 micro radians or less at altitudes around 60 km, with opposite signs for rising and setting occultations. Data quality below 35 km should be fine. We are monitoring the situation and consider a re-initialisation of the orbit estimation tomorrow morning in case data quality becomes worse. In any case, we'll keep you informed... With kind regards, Christian. -- Dr. Christian Marquardt, Polar System Product Expert EUMETSAT, Am Kavalleriesand 31, D-64295 Darmstadt, Germany Tel: +49-6151-807456, Fax: +49-6151-807304 Email: christian.marquardt@eumetsat.int, Web: http://www.eumetsat.int
