NRT Notification Detail

Outage of GRAS level 1b data, degraded data
DATE:   2010-09-06 08:48
TYPE:   NRT-GTS
Description
Dear GRAS SAF GTS user Issued 2010-09-06 08:45 UTC Due to missing upstream GRAS level 1b data no GRAS SAF products where disseminated between instrument sensing times '2010-09-04 19:08:30 UTC' and '2010-09-04 20:11:42 UTC'. GRAS SAF Products disseminated between sensing times '2010-09-04 17:30 UTC' and '2010-09-04 21:45' are based on degraded input data and have been flagged accordingly. Please see detailed message from Eumetsat below. Kind regards The GRAS SAF Team Forwarded message: Subject: Data outage and degraded GRAS data quality on 04 Sep 2010 16:45 - 21:45 UTC Date: 2010-09-04 23:43 UTC From: Christian Marquardt Dear all, due to some problem in the Metop Ground Segment, all science data from Metop could not be processed on the operational processing chain. GRAS level 1 data products in particular stopped to be available shortly after 16:45 UTC. Data processing resumed for measurements taken after 17:30, but the GRAS POD process went through it's usual reset, causing degraded GRAS level1 data quality. For measurements taken between 17:30 and 21:45 UTC, data products have therefore been flagged as containing degraded bending angle data. For measurements taken after 21:45 UTC, we managed to re-initialize the GRAS POD with a converged state vector; data quality should be nominal again from this point in time on. We apologize for the interruption of our service! With kind regards, Christian. -- Dr. Christian Marquardt, Polar System Product Expert EUMETSAT, Am Kavalleriesand 31, D-64295 Darmstadt, Germany
