Subject: GRAS Degraded Data Quality on 13 and 14/01/2011
From: Christian Marquardt
Date: 2011-01-14 09:57 UTC

Dear all,

unfortunately, I have to report on another anomaly in the operational GRAS
processing.

Due to some data gaps in the level 0 data stream from all instruments
which occurred around 11:00 UTC sensing time yesterday, 13/01/2011, the
GRAS Precise Orbit Determination (POD) experienced some hickups and went
through a reset. Unfortunately, the POD did not converge towards nominal
quality as usual. Hence, all GRAS level 1b data products exhibited
increasing (and strong) biases with opposite signs for rising and setting
occultations.

This morning, we finally re-initialized the the POD successfully; data
starting from sensing times 07:32 UTC on 14/01/2011 should be ok again.

To our knowledge, all affected level 1b data products were flagged as having
degraded bending angle data quality accordingly.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this might have caused on your side.

With kind regards,

 Christian.
