| Dear GRAS SAF data user Issued 2011-03-23 11:57 UTC We have discovered a problem in an interpolation routine which affects the GRAS SAF NetCDF files containing the background profiles of temperature, pressure and humidity based on ECMWF forecasts (files with prefix 'bgr'). The affected files are no longer available in our products archive but will be replaced with new files. The problem is with the value for the geopotential height at the surface (the variable named 'geop_sfc'). This value may be significantly wrong in some regions and therefore we recommend that these files are not used currently. A new version of the 'bgr' files will be generated and when this processing is complete we will issue a follow-up message. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this error may have caused.
